Updated pics of my 11mo. ambilobe male...

So yesterday my new ambilobe male was showing some insane colors. When i was misting the cage he was showing a vibrant orange/red background with purple bars! I ran upstairs to get the camera and they were gone and back to his mix of blue bars with a red wash in them. I am going to leave teh camera down by his cage and hopefully get pics of his orange/red background with purple bars. It was an insane color combo and I haven't seen another ambilobe show quite that color. Here are the pics I took after i came back down and saw the insanity was already gone It's alright though because he was still showing some beautiful coloring Here they are, hope you enjoy.

Thanks. I raelly love his fired up colors. He goes from a burgandy background with deep navy bars to bright red or orange with a little lighter blue bars. I wish I could have gotten pics of him with the purple. It was unreal. It wasn't even dark like his normal bars it was a crazy purple. I will get pics of it soon! I got him from Catherine(pardalisgirl) and he is already one of the favorites in my collection and I've only have him not even 2 weeks. He is in perfect health due to her outstanding care that she gives all of her chams and I'm hoping that I will eventually grow on him to where he doesn't want to kill me so much. He loves his dubia and silk/hornworms though. Handfed of course. lol.

I've never seen any colors of that sort on an Ambilobe. He is really mind boggling.

Thanks. I know when I saw him the first time i was in shock. He barely ever has any green on him, and thats only and the top of his back where his tail meets the body base and a little on his face. Here's a pic of him, he's mad but isn't fired up. These are his "resting" a.k.a. all the time colors.

I wish we could see what his Daddy was like. It isn't possible since his mother was gravid when I bought her as a fresh import. At rest his bars are super navy. I think when he fires up he becomes more infused with red which mingles with the navy to make purple. With paint, blue and red make purple. I'm glad you like him. I personally love the fiesty ones best. They try to look like they really hate you and then snatch a treat from your fingers. I think he will become more tame over time. His clutch hatched when I had about eight other clutches hatch. I had babies growing up everywhere. I just could not give them all individual attention early on. I fed them and cleaned up after them properly but did not spend much time handling them. Having a person focus on him with attention and treats will lead to his eventual trust of you. I'm so happy he has such a loving and devoted keeper. Thanks for the update

I cannot wait to breed him. I have shown him females and he tries to mount them on my hand. He will have 2 girlfriends in about 2 months. They are 1 year old now and 72 and 77 grams each. I want them a little bigger before breeding though. The are from a very very high orange male. Should be interesting what the little ones come out like.
