UVB light cna i use this?

I do use a cfl and had issues when the fixture was too close to my cham's basking spot. I now keep it a little over a foot away and have not had any more issues. Just make sure to keep at a safe distance because they are very intense lights.

I am not a fan of the compact florescent bulbs. There has been some eye problems (keratosis) that they believe are related to this type of bulb. I wold try something else rather then risk a Keratosis issue that would cause blindness. JMO

I think this problem was linked to earlier versions of CF bulbs and has been fixed. However, note that I have not used any cf bulbs for chams, just the classic tube types. A couple of things I like about tube fixtures (besides being sort of surly about change until forced because my old hoods can't be retrofitted to take the newer tubes) is the way the light distributes itself. In a tube fixture/hood, the light is produced over a larger area of the cage as opposed to one specific spot. They might also create a more even light for more of your cage plants. I do have a cf bulb over my bird aviary and notice that unless you put the cf bulb in some sort of shade or reflector the intense glow beams out in all directions blinding anyone who happens to be near the cage (like me).

I actually decided to go with and test both over my new enclosure, yes I'm a newB but I thought I'd give the Cham a chance to show me what he liked.
I have one basking area with a reptisun 5.0 and one basking area with the repti glo 5.0 CF he actually has been basking more in the area with the reptiglo 5.0 so who know all I know is he seems to prefer this for now
