Veggies?

What are the best most common veggies to give to my veiled? Im going to the store today to get some and want to make sure im getting the right good stuff.

I asked this question a while back, so I'll take the jump on it, and others can join in.

If your cham is still a juvenile they won't eat veggies yet. They need to be a little older.

But if he's ready to eat there are lots of things they like.
Squash
Brocolli
Sprouts
Mustard and Collard greens (these are the favs and preferred by most)
Strawberries

There are a ton of sites out there that will tell you more veggies, but those are the most readily accessible at the store (at least in my area).

Remember on fruits to slice them up pretty good.
I'll let everyone else now commence with adding additional veggies to the thread!

How old should the Cham be before it eats veggies?

I have fed mine an assortment of the following...dandelion greens, kale, collards, endive, escarole, mustard greens, thin pieces of carrot, squash, zucchini, sweet red pepper, sweet potato, apple, pear, melon, berries, etc.

how do yall feed them. ive seen a few leaves on his ficus tree that had teeth marks on them. but how do yall offer the veggies? thanks sorry if i went off subject

thank you thats a great list. Mine is about 2 years old so he is large enough and old enough to eat some veggies. I will get some this evening aswell. I was gonna ask that questino next so no harm done. How do you present the veggies to them? When you cut up the fruits how do you put it in there cage and where? Thanks to you all.

The veils that I used to have really loved collard greens. I use to blanch them briefly in the microwave as I was told back then that it was beneficial to the vitamin absorption (or something like that). You will need to experiment, as keep in mind that each animal is individual and might have it’s own preferences. Please remember to stay away from things such as iceberg lettuce as it has no nutritional value, as well as anything hard that could choke your cham… You can also try dandelion greens (that are free from areas that use pesticides) if you pick fresh ones yourself.

Yeah, no one has said how they offer the veggies to their chams! This is all text book stuff, but no true experience advice!
Can any of you guys offer us some advice as to how you sucessfully feed your cham veggies please?
Do you just cut them up and place them in their feeding cup? Do you hang the greens from a feeder clip?
Please advise us novices...:)

Cheers
Scott.

I impale wedges of fruit on a branch. Leaves may be impaled on a branch too. I sliver or dice finely the carrots, squash, sweet potato, sweet red pepper and chop the leaves and offer the whole mixture in a lid/dish in the cage. It not only feeds the chameleon but the crickets will eat it too.

I'm sure there are other ways to provide the "salad" too.

I do it like Kinyonga, however, I generally only offer dark leafy greens (collard, romaine, dandelion).
My veiled was eating greens from about six weeks old so I would offer them immediately regardless of age.
You can get veggie clips at the pet store too.
