any body feed hissing cockroaches to their chameleon? feed crickets now but thought it would be eaiser to raise my own hissing cockroaches. just brought my first veil chameleon from ben siegel

G. portentosa are not very good feeders.
They have a hard exo-skeleton and their legs are really spiny.
Additionally, they seem to have no problem fighting back and using those
spines when attacked.
I would recommend Blaptica dubia (my favorite roach for feeding). Much
softer shell and not as large as adults. They tend to just give up when zapped and have a great meat to shell ratio.
They also breed faster than the hissers and can't climb the sides of their enclosure (hissers can scale just about anything.)
I do think hissers make excellent pets tho. Pretty relaxed when handled and get very used to it (they eventually stop hissing...once they get used to you)

veiled chameleon

I agree with Brad......Hissers are a good pet but not a good food for chameleons. The legs are like jagged barbs and they can injure the chameleon's mouth and cause infection. I have E. Distanti and E. Prosticus colonies. They are a little softer in the body but I still don't feed those to my chameleons. I feed them to big tree monitors and hydosaurus lizards. B. Dubia is a much better choice for chams.

Several people on this forum have them for sale in the misc. classifieds....well three people I can think of: Matthew Wheelock, Heika, and uh....some other guy.

That's an amazing price!
What size are they?

Edit: Just checked it out. that is for 50 tiny ones....so how much did you pay for shipping?
I'm just curious since I recently started offering them and want to make sure I am
charging a fair price. I'd be curious to know what kind of an overcount you get as well
Thanks!
