Veiled casques

Just a quick question.

I was thinking about getting a male veiled baby. Looking at adult male veileds, some have very high casques that almost go to a point. Others aren't as high and are more rounded.

What plays into this? Just genetics I assume? If I can't see the chams father, is there anything I can look for on the baby to determine if it'll have a high, pointier casque?

Thanks. ;)

you are right in that there are two types of veiled chameleons. some literature actually says that there are two subspecies with the casque being the identifying trait. as far as i know the only way to tell what type would be to look at the parents. good luck

alot of things like temps, calium levels, genetics, and just that my veileds gos strait up into a point hes had it since he got his crown and low calium causes droopy bent casques. heat some get burned and melt it right off:( so sad:(

OK, thanks all.

I lust love casques that look like this....very impressive.
