Veiled Eggs Arriving Soon!!!

So I'm estimating my Veiled will be laying eggs within the next 10 days. She bred on 1/17 and then again on 1/19 with my male Tiger. So this week I'm preparing everything for her. I have a laying bin filled with sand/moss inside her enclosure. I'm thinking once she starts digging I will go ahead and move her to the larger trash can laying bin. If I left anything out let me know.

So the last guessing game was pretty fun, same rules apply I guess.

The amount of eggs being laid guessing? I mean that's what i'm assuming... Lol! Based on the last results, i'm going with 60. Lol!

Personally I would be afraid to move my female once she starts digging. You might find my egg laying/laying bin blog helpful.

congrats :D I guess 53 :3
I just used a 5 gallon bucket packed down with damp play sand and it worked like a charm. good luck to your girl :)

Thanks Jann. I read it. I think I'm going to try and finish my bird cage cham enclosure today so I can fit a big bucket in there. I hope it wouldn't be too stressful to move her into that soon.

Zac I still can't believe how many yours had. I'm starting to see some bumps and I felt the eggs. They're coming! Thanks.

im guessing 53..and ive always used the same technique as chameleon rave mentioned..works great for me..

Neither can I! :) post some pictures of your beautiful girl! :D

I'll post some pics soon. So I was able to clean the new cage today it got too cold to do anything else. My hands were freezing off. So far I have a 12 by 6 inch deep laying bin. Maybe I should just put a 2 gallon bucket in there instead it would be a 12/12. It's kinda hard with the plants. Should I take them out for the time being?

If you mean 12 wide by 6 inch deep that's not deep enough. The 12/12 is much better dimensions. They usually dig down, at an angle quite often on the edge, and all the way to the bottom.
Problem with just 6inches, when she has gone as deep as she can there's a chance she won't feel 'hidden' enough and abandon the hole. Because she can get no deeper she could retain her eggs and risk being eggbound.

Two options I would think - either remove plants to accomodate large bin or add a smaller bin in her viv. As soon as she starting digging move her to a large bucket. I've never had to move plants so hopefully someone can advise best option..................

She is starting to dig and I haven't had a chance to change out the tub and remove the plants. I have her enclosure covered up so she can't be bothered. Should I move her into the trash can now??? I'm at work btw.

I wouldn't disturb her while she is digging. Wait till she is back up in the top of the cage before you change out the tub. Just a suggestion. Hope every thing goes good! Good luck!:D

Cool. I changed it out. She was on top. I sure hope everything goes well. I think I mentioned I have her enclosure covered.

Should I still mist her? She stopped digging for today.
