I just have a few questions when someone states the length of their Cham are they stating total length tail extended; or nose to vent?

I got my guy "Nelson" a veiled Chameleon on March 17th so I am trying to figure out his aproximate age. I believe he is under a year but need a expert...

Thanks.... Amy

Here is a picture he doesn't care for the camera if you can tell...

Most of the time they mean snout to vent when saying how long a chameleon is.. Otherwise they will say "total length"

I am guessing your male is 5 months old.. hard to tell without having a size reference in the picture...

When people state length I think it is normally snout to vent. If total length is meant, usually that will be mentioned.
I guess your guy is 6 months ish, but he seems to have a little casque and it's always hard to be sure.....

Its best to take a photo of him on your hand or beside something that we could use to show his size in comparison to the object :D He's Beautiful. I am gonna say he is around 6-8 months

hard to tell when he could be a runt.

if you look at his casque its a bit concave hes probably underweight. make sure hes getting enough food. so he grows up big and strong. adults dont need as much food as youngsters.

since youve only had him like 2 weeks he was probably underweight when you got him. his body looks fine though, pretty plump in the tail, and you cant see his pelvis. its a little wierd that his casque would be showing syptoms and the rest of him wouldnt. so maybe im trippin, or maybe he is a runt in which case he could be a couple months older than around 5-6 which is what he looks like

Here are some pictures of Nelson. He doens't seem to be doing well the past few days. He barely eats. I have been making sure he gets water by a syringe. He seems dark in color and I am worried. I did order some Phoenix worms to help bulk him up and give him a better food to eat besides Crickets and Mealworms (just a snack). I am also going to order butterworms for him. Any other suggestions I do think he is under the weather. He did sneeze today also. Maybe a RI?
