Should this be a concern? this is my first Cham so I still have a lot to learn about them, but I just feel like I might be doing something wrong to make him just sit there... is he just lazy and im being paranoid? Thank you for taking your time to read this! -Will

What's a blue heat bulb? Are his eyes open all day?

Its a heat bulb that is blue in color it came from zoomed in a two lamp kit with a 5.0uvb bulb . Yes his eyes are open all day. Also, he sleeps in the same spot he sits at after the lights go out

I don't see any major issues. Some chameleons like to bask more than others, so that may just be his favorite spot. What are you using to measure the temperature? If it is too cold he may also bask more.

They usually explore a lot more when you first get them and then find a couple places they like to spend most of their time. Just make sure you have horizontal branches he can get to at different distances from the heat/UVB so he can find the temp and UVB exposure he likes best.

Also, looking at that picture, I would add a lot more branches and vines and foliage. He should be able to get anywhere he wants in the cage and have lots of places to hide.

Thank you, that makes sense, im using a digital thermometer and a laser type thermometer to check spots around the cage its about 86.7 where he sits all the time

Ok i took some out thinking it was to much but ill put em back in and see if it helps, thanks again

Also, do their tails curl when basking? I thought that was a sleeping/stress thing

Some chams keep their tail curled a lot more than others. It may just be his preference, may be age related, not something to worry about. As long as he has control over his tail he's fine. I had a F. verrucosus who hardly ever curled his tail. I'd swear he forgot he had one or where he last put it

thanks all! like I said first cham so im probably just paranoid, I opened his cage and hung the pothos out in front of the opening now hes out on it and staring at me...:D I think he needs more stuff in his cage, im off to the hardware store!

Ok i put a few wooden dowels of different diameter in there with some thumb tacks and i tell ya he's a totally different cham! He also goes nuts for ghann's crickets! I ordered some a couple days ago and he seems excited to eat them, so I'm wondering if my crickets were crap to him so he didn't like to eat em...
