Veiled playing dead

Was wondering if anyone else has had their veiled or panther play dead. Mine did it for the second time last night. I went in to check and noticed my male veiled sleeping near the top of the cage in a position that looked like he may fall. The second I touched him, he balled up in a tight ball and fell to the base of his plant. I picked him up and he stayed that way for about 4 minutes straight in my hand. He wouldn't move his feet of show any signs of life. He finally opened his eyes and about a minute later and was back to normal. Both times he's done this, he had been sleeping and was startled awake. I know it's common for pygmies to do this. I've never had my panthers do this but read somewhere that veiled will do this occasionally. Just wondering if anyone else had any common experiences.

Chameleons will sleep in some funky spots sometimes. If they're healthy, they wont fall so I recommend not messing with them if they're sleeping.

yes chameleons disturbed in the nightime will fall the bottom of their tree as a defensive mechanism

i dont know if he was playing dead or just in shock.
but i wouldent bother them. their grip stays strong when they sleep.

nightcrawler is right. Sometimes it looks like theyr'e going to fall but i guess when they sleep their grip involuntarily vices to what they're holding onto. My panther sleeps right side up most of the time but my female vieled ive seen hanging by two back feet from a vine facing down with her hands side by side she looks like shes praying lol.

I know they shouldn't be moved, I was just wondering if anyone else had seen this behavior with something other than pygmies which play dead on a regular basis. Thanks for the input. David

Stayed like this all night.
