Veiled with dark spot & issues shedding

Hey, I have an almost two year old veiled chameleon with a dark spot on his side. I noticed it about a month ago when it was just a grayish mark that looked like a bruise so I left it alone but he just started shedding and that area doesn’t seem to be coming off or turning white, there also is an area in the middle that is slightly raised and cloudy looking. It doesn’t seem to be impacting him as he is still eating and drinking as well as wanting time outside his cage (he has some sticks and stuff to climb on by a window). Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

this could be a thermal burn, please post some pictures of your enclosure from top to bottom. what are your temps at? how far is your branch from the basking light?

you might add a little bit of time to your misting schedule to help the shed.

The 3rd picture looks like a fungal infection. however, I could be wrong. @Beman @MissSkittles what are your thoughts on this?

Looks like a thermal burn to me as well. Too intense of a wattage of bulb being used at a distance that is too close to the chameleon.

moisture will actually make shed stick. Typically you do not want to spray the cham directly or it will cause it to be like paper mache sticking to the skin.

his basking branch is about 8in away from the bulb and his temp is 85 in the basking area. As I mentioned he has sticks outside of his cage and sometimes when I let him out he uses them to crawl on top of the cage which gives him access to his light and i’ve found the metal can get quite hot. I usually catch him before he gets there but I was thinking maybe he burned himself on the light.

What type of bulb and what is the wattage? Many people are buying the focused basking bulbs. These when used on a chameleon burn them because it is a focused hot spot.
