I have a veiled chameleon who is approximately 6-8 months old. His name is Louie. He eats crickets and mealworms in the morning that have been dusted. I use multivitamin powder about twice monthly. Although the store I got him from said he's a big eater, I haven't seen proof of that. He has adequate heat and humidity. He had a little dripper but I just tossed it because it was leaking and growing mold underneath it. I'm planning on making or getting him a new one tomorrow but he has been drinking as I've been misting. I handle him every day or every other day. About a week ago he starting keeping his left eye shut almost constantly so I took him to the vet and they suspected he had something in his eye so they flushed it. That's been a week ago and now it looks so much worse. It gets swollen at times (see pictures) and looks horrible. Then it will go back to just being shut. I have no idea what to do for my poor guy and I hate seeing him like this. I'm planning on taking him to the vet first chance I get but this isn't actually a herp vet as we don't have one in my area. Any ideas on what I can do for him or what may be causing this? It is only in the left eye.
