Vet visit is friday, what will help in the meantime?

The Dilly bean has had a few problems since she laid her clutch, she's been worrying me sick! My biggest concern right now is her front leg. It appears pretty swollen compared to her other leg. I don't necessarily see a bend characteristic of MBD, but there's definitely something going on. She's not favoring it and her grip is strong. She's moving around normally. Is there anything that I can do between now and Friday? She's getting daily showers because she had a poop with a urate looking like she was dehydrated . I can get her in for an emergency visit if it's warranted but it costs quite a bit more, and I'm afraid I might be overreacting a little bit.

I don't see the swelling, but I don't think it warrants an emergency visit, as long as she is stable and still eating/drinking. Keep her as comfortable as possible, and let her rest until you get her there. If anything changes, I would reconsider. But otherwise, she appears to be bright and alert. Make sure she is getting a good calcium and vitamin supplement. Having just laid a clutch, her body could be repeated, which can contribute to her symptoms. Best of luck!

Thanks for the reply! I really might be overreacting to some of the post clutch changes. She's eating well, poop seems to be back to normal. She did have a poo a few days ago that showed dehydration pretty clearly so she's getting daily showers and extra hornnworms. She refused liquids for a few days before the clutch and it definitely dried her out but I think we're at a pretty good hydration level now. She drinks in her showers and I do see her licking drips in the cage. She is due for a check up and fecal anyway and I really want a scan to be sure that the clutch didn't deplete her bones and start a dreaded MBD situation, hopefully the vet can calm my nerves a little bit!

I personally don't see a difference I think you are probably just paranoid lol that's good tho better to worry about nothing then to not worry about something like a lot of ppl anyways I say she just has thick thighs:D:p
I am nothing if not paranoid!! And lol, she's definitely on the thick side! She is pretty fat, I'm working on thinning her down. And I agree, I would rather worry myself to pieces and get her checked out than ignore it and lose her.

I would agree a check up is better than no check up. Especially since she is showing receptive colors and behaviors already compared to your other posts. It would be nice to know how far along she is in producing her eggs. I am a bit worried since she already shows the signs of laying. Usually if they are all the way done laying they get a few weeks in between lays. At least from what I know. I am just a bit worried what her body might do with this drain.

The colors and acting gravid still really worry me too. At 8 months old clutches right back to back are going to be such a strain on her, I want to make absolutely sure we're doing everything we can to reduce the strain on her body.

Ok you right I can see from this angle lol she is a big girl but is it not just from carrying eggs?
That's is her belly size a few weeks after laying. Before she laid I thought the poor thing might pop. I have to admit that I knew very little about chams at all when I got these guys, they were "rescued" from a horrible big chain pet store. I had reptile experience but all reptiles have such different needs so I had a lot to learn. The forums have been an absolute life saver.
These are while she was still gravid-

Wow looks like a cham balloon lol but she is so pretty

If you don't have liquid calcium for her, I would ask the vet if you could get a small bottle of it. Especially since she may be relatively depleted. Liquid calcium is easier to absorb.

I will absolutely do that. Can I get it over the counter or online? I know that there are a few brands available much cheaper than from the vets that are the right dosage for iguanas, what strength should I look for with Dilly? Are there any brands that are better accepted than others?
