I took a vid this morning of my green tree monitors. I thought some of you might like it:)

The first part is me watering Jade first thing this morning. The second part is right after Emeril woke up(he's still in the bird house with his head sticking out) as I was making eggs for breakfast and I decided to give them some raw egg. Yum!

Enjoy!

They look pretty spoiled to me. They look pretty cool. How big will they get?

It's probably a good thing I won't have time to stop over when I am home at Christmas because you will find yourself with 2 fewer lizards when I leave!! :D

These are my favorite species of monitor and for you to have 2 of them that actually dig the human interaction is simply amazing (for those of you who don't know, these guys are normally VERY skittish around people).

That was a great video, I guess I have never known much about monitors excepth the monster one in LLL Reptiles window. Yours look quite neat. Also do you have a little kid or just different taste in music? :) How are they with kids?

Thanks guys for all the kind words!

Before I had gotten my first one I was told they were very shy and skittish. I had heard that a CBB would be a little better but not to expect much as far as interaction goes as they were a "look at pet". So the first one I got was CBB(he's the one in the bird house), he has never been afraid of me, even from the time I took him out of the bag he came in. He has always wanted to come out and crawl all over me, never been shy at all. I decided I would try a WC so I got one(she's the one I'm watering and eating the egg). It took a week before she acted like the first one. Not long at all, I really can't belive it. They are both not shy and very interactive. They always want to come out and play, lol! Yes, my kids do hold them and both crawl all over them just like they do to me. I think the secret to the way they are is the fact that none of us never grab them. We just let them crawl on us and do what they want. Now these monitors are not like other species that might sit still on your lap. These monitors are very active and almost never sit still. They are constantly investigating everything! They both seem to really like me though as they follow will me around and jump after me off of high places. It's not like owning other reptiles at all. The downside is since they need such high humidity and heat I can only hold them 10-15 minutes at a time.

Watch my WC monitor follow me upstairs

Here is my CBB outside in the front yard with me while I watch my kids play

Here they are exploring my cham cages

Appears to be really friendly. I never would have thought it possible to that extent but this is the first I've known of this species.

I'll have to look into these creatures in a few years time if I have space to expand my collection.
