Vitamin A deficiency

My cham, Waldo has been doing relatively fine up until now. He is showing signs of Vitamin A deficiency. His right eye has remained closed for the past couple days. I am going to treat him by giving doses of Preformed Vitamin A or other Vitamin A substances. Can someone recommend a certain type? How much? etc. Also, how you've treated Vitamin A deficiencies in the past?
Thanks for all the help,
Ryan Freund

EDIT: Oh btw, in the works is a free range habitat using a hibiscus tree.:D I'm excited to get it finished and show all of you guys.^^
EDIT: Also, it's been a while, how is everyone?

Humidity - What are your humidity levels? How are you creating and maintaining these levels? What do you use to measure humidity?
Plants - Are you using live plants? If so, what kind?
Placement - Where is your cage located? Is it near any fans, air vents, or high traffic areas? At what height is the top of the cage relative to your room floor?
Location - Where are you geographically located?

Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care?

Cage Info:
Cage Type - lxwxh 2x1x3Feet full screen with a plexiglass covered small door.
Lighting - 5.0 uvb uva reptiglow, also 75watt basking lamp.
Temperature - 85 at the highest(basking spot) Probably around 65-75 at lowest. During night around 60-70
Humidity - Not exactly sure,(humidity gauge broke) I do manage to keep the humidity very decent though
Plants - Live ficus, but recently died. I have switched him to a hibiscus.
Placement - Cage is located in my room. Low traffic area. Is not near any vents. I do keep a fan on for air circulation during night.
Location - Tip of Indiana

Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - Furcifer Pardalis, male, 1 year almost three months.
Handling - Not often. Only when he wants to get out or when I sun bath him.
Feeding - Crickets, 8-10 every other day. I feed my crickets a mix of grains, supplements, and occasionally fruits and veggies.
Supplements - Repcal calcium without D3 on every other feeding. Herptivite and Calcium with D3 at least once a month.
Watering - I was using a pump mist recently but it broke so I've been using a squirt mister. 3-4 times a day for 3-5 minutes.
Fecal Description -Dark urates with the occasional white top. Not tested for parasites, he is captive bred from Screameleons.
History - He had been relatively fine
Current Problem - His right eye has been closed, I suspect it to be a vitamin A deficiency. Today, I found his other eye closed, a further symptom

So, what brand, and how much and where do I get Vitamin A?

While I never personally use preformed vitamin a purposefully (and yet have healthy chameleons), lots of people do feel some is a good idea now and then. Dont over do it, as overdose is quite possible.

You may find this post useful (in which Dave provides a dosage):

and here, Jim of Chameleon Company provides his thoughts:

You could also see a vet and have a preparation made specifically for your animal (a vet could also help determine if in fact the problem is what you think it is)

also, these are on the topic and may prove interesting as well

I'm sorry Todd.XD I wasn't paying attention, I'm freaking out a bit here.lol Do you know where I can get it where it won't take 5-7 days to get it?

Could it be the light that is causing the eye issue? Just a thought...don't know if that particular light does cause eye problems or not.

It seems recommended by a lot of users and seems to be used quite often, so I'm not really sure? If the lighting is the problem, what should I do?

Maybe if you take the light off for a day or two the chameleon will open its eye and then you will know the light might be the problem...or take the chameleon out of the cage and see if it opens its eye and keeps it open.

You said..."Already been taken care of.^^ I've had him out ohis usual lighting for the past two days just to see if the lighting was the cause"...so since you are still looking for vitamin A I can only assume that it didn't make a difference?

Your vet can provide a vitamin A for you to provide orally.
You will want to see a vet to confirm the issue/diagnosis anyhow, wont you?

Is the UVB reptiglo a tube or a compact?

Have you considered improving the gutload and offering a wider range of insects than just crickets?
