Hi there,
I just had a viv custom built and I am planning to decorate it and would like some advice and/or ideas! The viv is pretty big and this would be my first reptile. I have been doing my research on their care and requirements which only makes me more excited and determined to have my own pet cham to introduce into my family! The size of the viv is :4ft(h)x3ft(w)x2ft(d), mesh top, glass doors (non-reflective), wooden sides to restrain heat & humidity (I live in the UK), UVB light stretched across the top and a ceramic bulb for heat and ventilation holes. Additionally I am planning to get a grow light (not sure which yet) to help stimulate growth for the live cham-friendly plants to put inside.
I hope to have one treated natural forking branch in the middle of the viv to give the option of my future male panther cham if he would like to be on ground level (unlikely I know, but just to give it the option). My main concern is about attaching sturdy branches on the sides at various levels so my cham can choose how high he'd like to go! Someone suggested using nails to screw in the branches or 'no nails glue'. But I was wondering if there are nails available which wont rust due to the humidity/heat, or if the glue would be sturdy enough to last me for my entire cham's life. I would hate if a branch fell because the glue wore off and it hurts itself. If anyone has experience in decorating a viv like this please let me know as your experience/advice would be greatly appreciated. I hope to achieve the most natural environment possible for my cham. Also, experience with using growing lights would also be a tremendous help!
If anyone is kind enough to post pictures of their own vivs that could help me generate ideas on how to decorate it, I will love you forever ! I wouldn't copy it. I don't get my cham until September so I will have plenty of time to ensure the humidity is easily kept above 60% and temperatures.
Thank you for reading and advice! Much appreciated!
