something i have noticed,is my male panther 18 weeks. he will stay under his basking light until i first spray him for the day. then it seems like it "wakes" him up and then he starts his moving around and getting lighter etc.
does anyone else notice this?
i know they warm up first thing. but if i don't spray him he will just stay there.
the temp right under the light says 80 to 85 and on hot days i will get to 90.
should i lower it?
i am working on getting one of the temp guns i have seen mentioned here.
what temp should he be?
I would think that he is still warming up when you spray him. He's dark because dark colors absorb heat better. I think he's just moving to get away from the mist. Most of mine spend about an hour at least under the light before they start moving around. Good luck with him. David
yeah, my cham does the same thing. I turn the lights on in the morning and he will head over there.. I usually wait an hour till I give the first morning spray... At that time he will head to the trees and drink, then go to the top and perch there waiting for breakfast!!! I think that he needs the heat to get his body warmed up enough to move and the water and food for energy... makes sence to me!!!
