Wanted to say Welcome! Have some small questions though!

Hi guys! I'm new here and I just received my beautiful 4 month old Ambilobe Panther Chameleon from Kammerflage Kreations today and me and Ranger wanted to say hello!

I also had a question, is there any type of normal behavior that a Chameleon has after it arrives to his or her new home?

I've noticed after a couple of hours, that he is turning darker even when he is at the bottom of the cage, away from any source of light. He is also hiding in one of the darkest places of the cage.

Is this a sign that he is still slightly stressed and is still trying to adjust to his new home? Do you have any tips that would relieve any stress that he might have?

Me and Ranger thank you in advance. :D

welcome to the forums! You've come to the right place to increase your knowledge on these wonderful creatures. As long as he has a lot of foliage to hide in and the right enclosure setup, he should adjust normally within a month. If you could post some pictures of his home that would help us help you a ton.

This is what his cage looks like, I have the Reptisun 5.0 bulb in the back as well as a 75 watt basking bulb by Exo-Terra to the right, and to the left is a 75watt Night Black Heat Bulb by Zilla for when it gets really cold in my house at night.
As of right now he is mostly hanging on the left side of his cage. He isn't speckled black anymore, and has lightened up but is still fairly dark.

Hope this helps.

Thanks again.

It is normal for a new cham to be a little strange after getting him in the mail. also, welcome to the forums, like hakai said, the forums are a great place to learn. You have a beautiful boy too!:D

Everything looks perfect. However, it's not necessary to have a heat source for night time unless your house drops below 50*F(10*C). And also I would suggest putting the enclosure on top of like a nightstand or something to get it off the ground a few feet. They like to be as high as they can be and that might even detract from his stress levels. Besides that, great job with the setup!
