Wanting to take him outside

So im cleaning my car today because it's beautiful out and I wanna take my cham outside but I don't have his outdoor cage yet and I don't want to just leave him on a tree.

So this maybe a really stupid question because I know how stressed they get, but I was wondering if I could just take his whole cage (with him in it) outside with me? Or would me caring it downstairs and then outside freak him out too much?

Thanks :D

ijust take my guys out on my hand or a small tree and sit there and watch them enjoy the outside.

That is what I did this summer. He stayed outside most of the time but if the temps dropped or when the hurricane was coming I moved him inside and outside, cage and all. I wouldn't say he was thrilled with it but once the cage was sitting stable and his plants were back inside it he was his normal self again. However, if he has never been outside before he may stay a little stressed for a while. I know mine did until he got used to being outside.

I've done that before, but I'm not going to be able to watch him because I'm going to be cleaning my car and I know my guy is a curious adventurer and would be gone in a second if given the chance:p

ok, i agree if you cant keep a solid eye on him than i wouldnt bother either...
good call
enjoy your nice day, crap weather here

I have done that too, while preparing a new plant for his cage I didn't want to bother him by taking him out so I just took the whole cage, sat in the sunshine, and started my daily "chameleoning"

take the cage out first, then him on your hand. a moment of possible stress does not outweigh the benefits of real sun.

watch him smile as he sees you doing all the work!

You certainly could take the whole cage outside. Least stressful way of doing it. For when I can supervise my veiled chamaleon Larry, I put him on his free range outdoor hibiscus which he seems to enjoy. :D

by hand

i just put my Cham on my hat when I'm out washing my dirtbike and if sun went down I just put him in my sweatshirt and used my body heat to keep him warm. he seemed to like it. then when i put him back in side he'd try and bite me. but while we were out side we were buddies.

Now this question is completely unrelated but I've noticed my little guy has eaten alot today...like ALOT...like pushin 30 crickets

He's gonna be 4-5 months at the end of this month and I just wanna know if I should let him eat to his hearts content, or should I eventually cut him off

He's a little pig:)
