Watching veiled drink

I have witnessed my cham drinking from leave lots of times but I have recently started using a homemade drip system to raise the vivs humidity and I just caught him licking the water droplets from the mesh ceiling. Wow, my baby learns fast :D I'm a happy girlie after seeing that.

I still haven't seen my little buddy drink. I have to assume he is though since he's still alive lol and his urates look snow white.

He does not like being misted, takes cover everytime I spray him and the cage, even if I do it as gently as possable.

They all hate it ;P
At least when the water first hits them.

After a few minutes, they will settle down, and start to drink it up. ;)

I made my own dripper for my guy as well.
It is IV style and hangs from the ceiling with a stopcock inline on the
tubbing.
I have a small hole I poked in the screen and stuck a few inches of the rubber hose through to drip.

My little veiled stares at it and watches it drip, trying to get the rhythm of the drops, then he flicks his toungue at them.
Sometimes, he gets frustrated and starts bitting at it and trying to pull it off!!

It's very funny to watch, would make a great video if I had a camera!!

If you are spraying him with cold water while he is basking and trying to raise his body temp., that is why he is running away.
I like to wait until they are not basking before spraying them directly.

You can still spray around him though!

Good point. It's room temp water but is cold compared to being under a basking light I'm sure. Would be like someone pouring ice water down your back...I would run too LOL

Fascinating aren't they, I watch mine for hours........from a distance of course, don't want to scare him...lol

Since seeing that sick little Cham video recently drinking from the hand sprayer. Can't remember the thread, think it was last Sunday. I have started offering drops from spray bottle. Popeye loves it and I can go to work knowing he has had a good drink and he can please himself if he tops up when mister goes off.

I didn't see that vid. How does yours drink from a sprayer, you mean you keep spraying and it sticks its tongue out? Sounds cute.

Yes he drinks from sprayer but i just dribble it slowly in front of him and he licks the drops as they come out. would post a video but thats another story. lol

I just got a battery opp 5gal sprayer for cheap. Thought it would be good and easy to have instead of wearing my hand out pumping !!

Anyway, it does work very well, but little Smeagol (vailed male) hates it and gets all puffy!! My new Jacksons cham is fine with it, he has even learned how to use his home made cricket feeder (instructions on YouTube!!), and does not run away when I spray like Smeagol does.

Do you think Smeagol will get used to the sprayer?
I hope so, because this thing is very convenient for me

Hi Kate, hope you're ok. After reading lots of threads about dehydration I got freaked out about Neo getting sick so I adapted your idea and he is now drinking water daily from a nurofen syringe. Just small drops at a time. It seems to be working so thank you :0) Will post a vid when I figure out how. xx

Hi Gemma. When you work out how to post video I would be interested to know how hehe. It's great to see them drink though. Nurofen syringe sounds good. I'm away from home just now hope husband has followed instructions about all the little extras you do during the day with your Cham. Home tomorrow.

No Gemma back at tea time. Keeping fingers crossed. Think I have some baby geckos. Love these babies.
