water crystals

hey guys im starting my dubia roach colony and wondering if any of you use plant water crystals and if they are safe. the ingrediants seem to be the same. I got the miracle-gro kind from home depot cuz they were less expensive than the ones at the pet store and seem to have same ingredients but I still want to make sure they are okay before I use them. Right now I just have some oranges in there until I can figure out if the crystals I got are okay :)

Some roach breeders online will sell a bag of water crystals for $15 that's will make almost 50 full buckets of crystals. The cheapest way to go is bulk

thanks guys :) Also wondering what a good way is to provide humidity? I saw some people who put a container of water with mesh on top so the roaches cant get in it. is this okay or what other ways of providing humidity is good?

It's the same one, it's just water saving gel but pet stores like to over change for anything they can so nothing new there

can someone kindly explain to me how I can use these water storing crystals to hydrate my feeder crickets?

Thank you.

I take a small pinch, usually 5-8 crystals and put them in the bottom of a Dixie cup, fill the cup with about 1 inch of cool water, and let them sit. Periodically check. The little crystals get huge so a little bit go a long way! I get some from rainbow mealworms. I have 3 little 2 ounce cups of them dry and it'll last me a long time. You can reuse the crystals until they start to oxidize (turn yellow or brown). Just add a little bit of water to them every other day or so.

Crystals

I make up a gallon and keep it in the fridge....lasts forever. I keep small bowls/containers in the bug habitats, and a small sea sponge (Walmart) in the dish. I add water/crystal water every few days.

I put a small tupperware type container from ikea (2"x2") filled with water (there is a huge pack with green lids of assorted sizes for $5) and poked holes in the top they seemed to like this because I saw some sheds left on the lid.
