Water question

Sorry I don't know if this thread would go in this topic...

So, my Cham still seems very young, and he will only take water from my mom, (lady at the pet store said we could give him water by either spraying the glass or give him water with a syringe, we do it both ways.)

She also said her lizard doesn't drink from a bowl but she keeps it in there just in case. Would that be harmful to my Cham? (While still giving him water other ways of course)
Thanks for all your help and he is getting beautiful colors now and then :)

What is making you think that he needs an additional water source? If you look at his stool (poop) it is comprised of two parts the brown poop part and the urates (white part, this is pee). If the urates are white, he is getting enough water however you are giving it. I would make sure you have a dripper for him. If his urates are orange then is not drinking enough and you need to look at improving his access to water. I would not do it with a water dish. Chams like to poop in them and unless they are kept very clean they can grow bacteria and make your cham sick if he drinks from it. I would increase misting, add a dripper before even considering a water dish.

when you are misting make sure that you are leaving behind droplets on the leaves of your plants so he has something to drink from. Spraying the glass is not ideal, make sure you are spraying the plants so they are droplets let there for him. Real plants hold the drops very well.

That is fine the way you are giving water. Just make sure with the syringe that you don't squirt it straight down his throat. You can also try a dripper, but make sure you have some type of drainage or a catch basin. If you use something to catch the water make sure it is shallow enough so you chameleon could crawl out if he fell in. Don't leave the bowl in there. Just something else to have to clean. It will serve no purpose if he is drinking other ways.
