Waterproof Govee?

Hey everyone! Longtime no post for me. I’ve been trying to stay as offline as possible for some months now. I just had a quick question: my Govee thermometer/hygrometer just started showing wonky temps and humidity and didn’t fix when I changed the batteries. I’m thinking water may have gotten in there. Now it seems I have to replace this one and it was pricey - $35 a piece. I k ow there are cheaper ones too, but I’m wondering if there is one that can get wet. I remember someone here mentioning a water resistant option but I don’t think it was Govee. I’m trying to stay with them if possible since I have multiple products from them for my Cham. Any suggestions? Thanks so much!

Mine have been wet several times, in fact, almost daily so perhaps it just went kaput? Anyways, have you tried letting it sit in a bag of rice ( or any other dessicant for that matter )? Maybe it just needs to fully dry out? Just a thought.

Thanks for the reply. I haven’t even had it a year, so that would be annoying if it died on me. I’ll try drying it out completely and seeing if that helps. The rice is a good idea. Thanks a lot.

I have the 5100s, the ones with AAA batteries, and waterproofed them by coating the circuit board inside with clear nail polish. I read it somewhere on Google. You paint everything except the humidity sensor. It has worked well so far.

Whoa. Cool. Not sure I’d be able to do that without having a visual. I’ll google it though. Right now, I have the unit in a bowl a rice. I have the h5179 model. Thanks!
