Wax worms.

Is it ok to give my 4 month old veiled chameleon 2 wax worms every day as treats? Or will he become too fat or will anything happen to him? I am building a strong relationship with him and when i take him out he's not frightened or does not stress (doesn't turn black or hiss, bite, nor run away)Anyways he likes to snag those little worms from my fingers when I show him :). So i was wondering if 2 wax worms daily is too much. If so i'll just move it to 1 every other day. Thanks :D. P.S feel free to check out his pictures on one of my other forums!!

I wouldnt give 2 every day because they are high in fat.
I would do maybe 1 a week, unless he needs some fattening up.

I would try to cut them out of the diet all together. Give a hornworm for a treat, they love them.

Reason I suggest to quit feeding the wax worms as Ive been reading more about them since a recent thread of someone losing there chameleon. Ive learned that they are hard to break down in the chameleons stomachs. They are so small that a chameleon usually doesn't always chew them up.
Ive seen two highly respected members here recommend feeding zero or few at the most a year. Also read several occasions of finding them undigested or hanging from chameleons vent area. I have fed them but the balance of negatives to positives are not worth trying to feed for me. They are not nutritional and only fattening anyways so it won't be a big loss to cut out. If you choose to.

Thats some good info right the Jack... I'll make sure when I get mine to only fed them a few times a year..

Would a chameleon have the same problem with silk worms? I have read that the exo skeleton is tough on silk worms.

Ive heard good things about silkworms and a lot of people use them as a main part of their chameleons diet. So i wouldnt worry about them. Im trying to get a good amount of silks to feed my chameleons them on a more regular basis instead of crickets.

heres a link that is currently being discussed as well more hot links inside that lead to other discussions on wax worms. https://www.chameleonforums.com/impaction-wax-worms-72289/

Thanks for the info guys! I was just wondering that's all! For some weird reason my chameleon Spyro will only accept wax worms when i hand feed him! Idk why with crickets it's a totally different story! He will look at them but he will be like (ummmm hell no) hahahahahha :p! He does like crickets when I don't hand feed him tho! P.S! My new cage arrived today! It's in the mailbox at my town's office. Tried to go pick it up but they close at 5. Gonna go pick it up at 9 am :). It's this one
