We Took In a Rescue From SPCA Last Night

Praying for her! One small piece of advice I have to offer, though. Be careful you don't over load her system with all of that food. Remember, her body hasn't seen any in a while, and it can put her into organ failure if you over do it. It's just like horses and dogs. Even though you want to let them eat till their heart's content, that is actually the worst thing you can do! Frequent small meals are the way to go.

So happy you found Maggie and Maggie found you. She couldn't be in a better place. We all know you will do everything in your power with Gods help to save her. Prayers headed your way.

Alot of damage may have been done in her past. The greatest gift is that from the time now til' her final day she will be at the best care her mind could have ever dreamed of. Thank you Jann!

Maggie had her vet visit yesterday. Her little body was filled with eggs. The vet believes that the crook in her back came from an injury such as being stepped on in the past. The vet did not believe she would be able to lay the eggs with her back situation so he scheduled her for surgery Wednesday morning to remove the eggs and spay. Before we even got checked out at the vet Maggie laid an egg. She was given an oxytocin injection and over the next 4 hours she laid 32 eggs. I'm going to have her x-rayed and if this is all of her eggs then we we will wait a few weeks to spay her. I believe it is all the eggs. She weighed 78 grams before laying and 55 after laying. The eggs look good but I will not incubate them due to Maggie's condition.

Thank God it wasn't a larger clutch, could have done way more damage if it did. So glad it worked out well. Are you still going forward with the spay?

With Maggie's health conditions she doesn't need to be producing clutches so we will eventually do the spay as soon as I get her healthy enough.

I am glad you are going with the spay, however I am extremely glad you are able to wait and get her healthier before having to do it <3 I am positive she will be in great shape with you as her caretaker in no time. You are amazing Jann, don't question it for one minute.

Little Maggie passed away this morning. :(

Here's a photo of Maggie form a few days ago. I was really
hoping that she would make it.

I'm so sorry! It's so tough when you get them in this condition and are really hoping for a good turn around. Rest in Peace, Little One.

Just know you did her a world of good. Better she pass in the comfort of your care than in the filth she was in previously. Because of you she got to enjoy "real" food. Rest in peace little Maggie ❤️.

Maggie was too severely dehydrated,it was impossible to save her judging by her picture, jannb did the best she can but unfortunately Maggie has gone to the heaven, may God bless n rest her soul.
