i have a baby Panther chameleon about an inch and a half total length. He likes his fruit flies, but how many should he be eating daily? I put enough in his enclosure that he can see some wherever he is.(not hundreds of them... He's in a 10g until he's ready for his 4x2x3)

Best idea I ever heard from the breeder who sold me Panther eggs:

1. As soon as the egg is about to hatch, cut the bottom and top off an orange.

2. Using a small nail head, that's been heated with a match, burn holes all over the lid and sides of a small, Chinese take-out container.

3. Place orange inside and wait about 1-2 days, till fruit flies begin to appear. Put container into the hatchlings enclosure.

4. Very soon you'll have what he called "a fruit fly vending machine!" The babies just hang around the container, eating all they want.
The flies come out but the babies can't get in.

I hatched 3 eggs and never bought a single fruit fly.

As soon as babies get too big for the flies, just put some vinegar into a bottle, make a paper cone and put into top of bottle. Soon it will catch and kill all the fruit flies in your house.
