well water

Sure you can. I drill them for a living. Is it a drilled well or an old hand dug well? Hand dug wells do sometimes have bacteria problems since they are basically surface water that seeps in. Actually unless there was something like sulfur or bad iron I would prefer well water over city water with chlorine and chemicals in it. I'm drinking some right now. :)

I am on a well and I drink it straight from the tap but I use a brita filter on my chameleons water just to be safe.

I also use well water and drink right from the tap. Best water around. I live way out in the country with few neighbors so i don't expect any problems and don't filter the water.

We have a 20' dug well (I don't live all that far from chamlover) and I choose not to use our water. I buy bottled water (though no guarantees there either). We live on a clean river and a few acres of conservation land, but that is still no guarantee. We have high copper and iron and even though we use a filter, with all the spraying and drinking Cyrus gets it is not worth the risk and, as rcmike said, there is always the possibility of bacteria. I notice a change in the water (shower) after rain or or heavy snowmelt (like right now).

Even if you have an artesian I would have your water tested. Here in NH there is a swath of land area through the state where high levels of arsenic and mercury were found (in drilled/artesian wells). Of course, this will vary where you live so I would just get it tested. What our bodies can handle and what our animals can handle are considerably different.

And another thing. Water varies sometimes with different regions. It also can vary from house to house. It is very hard to generalize if it is good or not. Most of the time it is but there is some that isn't.
