What color should eggs be???

I tried searching for an answer but had no luck.

What color should the eggs be when incubating? (Specifically carpet eggs)

Are there various shades of white? Any yellow? Other colors?

I know they should not be black or dark. Anything else to look for so I will know to take out?

Not sure how "good" they were from the start. She dropped them all over the bottom of her cage and I did not find them for a couple 2-3 hours.

Thanks

Jim

Jim, I think they should be mostly white, though some can be yellowish. Check out this thread: https://www.chameleonforums.com/diapause-candleing-3993/ it's got some great info on diapause, etc. The Chameleon Company guy says bad eggs will take care of themselves - you'll know it. A good egg will be good even if ones around them mold and die. Basically, never get rid of an egg until you're definitely sure.

Ok thanks for the info and link. I really only have 2 that are white, the others (minus the black ones I removed) are yellowish. I guess I will wait until they turn black.

Yeah, you'll know when they go bad. My first mating produced 31 eggs, and they all went bad. I think she was already cycling when I mated her. Then the next mating went well, and she laid 41, but only four survived that one. She is now carrying another clutch from the 2nd mating (I let them go at it until she showed gravid colors, unlike the first time), and I hope they're all full blown fertilized. She should be laying any day now, I hope!
