what do you feed your dubias?

The dubia roaches I purchased came in a container with dog food and potatoes, based on what I've read here in various posts, perhaps this is the reason my chameleon (and my leopard gecko) have refused to eat them?

If anyone who successfully feeds dubias could tell me what they've been using to gutload the roaches, that would be amazing!

Dinofuel, Bug Burger, carrots, oranges, kale and some commercial dry gutloads are what I rotate in and out.

I would stop using dog food if you are feeding the roaches to your animals. Too much animal protein in reptiles can lead to gout, so we recommend using fruits and veggies as the major percentage of any gutload. Foods others have recommended are great. Personally I use Repashy Superload and a combination of fruits and veggies I have on hand.

i use 1 cup of dog food, one box of raisin bran, dehydrated mixed fruits so they wont go bad. I throw in some multi vitamins that i feed my chameleon and calcium. Then i jst give them and fruits or vegies that are about to go bad out of my fridge(seem to be quite a bit). They are like living garbage disposals! lol

oranges boost their breeding cycles,i use to breed roaches now im breeding crickets

I'll second that. They devour oranges and breed like no tomorrow

I do put in a little dry dog food into the bin, but mainly potatoes and oranges along with any other fruit/veggie leftovers.. They'll eat anything you put in there

The dog food bit seems unnecessary. Why risk giving your chameleons a illness when its just as easy to use more of everything else your using.

I second. If you don't want fruit flies to infest your dubia bin lol, make some tang and use that to hydrate the water crystals to avoid moldy oranges. Unless your trying to culture penicillin lol

good purchasable options include dino fuel, cricket crack.

I will lend support to the suggestion that you limit /avoid the use of dog food (or cat food or cheap fish food). Roaches with excessive protein create uric acid, and consumption of these dubia can cause formation of crystaline structures between cells, collecting in joints and possibly organs, leading to painful gout (possibly death) in your chameleon. These foods also can have significant amounts of fat and fat soluable vitamins, which may be not such a good thing in quantity

We avoid any dog or cat food. We feed ours Oranges and carrots . We all so make our own blend of Dubia Chow

Lately I've been giving mine crushed rodent block and lots of fruits and veggies. I've got discoids, not dubias.

I feed mine oranges, apples, dandelion greens, butternut squash, sunflower seeds and alternate between repashy superload and dinofuel.
