I have been looking for a digital hygrometer/thermometer for my first panther chameleon. All I have really seen are zoo med, zilla, and flukers, and from what I have been reading the humidity seems to be off +/- 20 percent. Just wondering what some of you guys reccomend?
I've used exoterra, All Living Things (Petco generic brand, but I think it's made by Zilla), and a few generics off of ebay. The exoterra are pretty good, except for the most recent one I bought. It's off on the humidity by about 25%.
The All Living Things Temp/hygro has been really nice. It changes pretty rapidly, too. If I open the door, it will show the ambient room humidity, and when I close the door it changes really quick.
The ebay ones are hit and miss, and since some of them didn't have probes, I had to make sure they didn't get hit directly with water.
I use all of them as a guide, and don't take any of them as completely accurate. It just gives me an idea of what's going on.
A lot of people like the temp/hygro you can buy at home depot, they're cheap and easy to go pick up. I think the brand name is Accurite, but not 100% sure.
