What is a lubber?

I know to stay away from lady bugs and lighting bugs/firefly's because they are toxic, and that mealworms aren't a great choice.

But, what is a lubber? I feel stupid for not knowing but I have never heard the term until recently?

It's a type of grasshopper.

It's a horrible, disgusting, creature that will completely strip your garden/yard of everything decent.

It's so toxic that nothing will eat it, not birds, not fish.

When they're babies they're black with red stripes. If you see them in your yard, kill them all!

Haha, we have the horrible Kudzu vine down here. It takes over EVERYTHING in Mississippi!

I grew up in Georgia where we had poison sumac. Heard of that one? ?

When I lived in France, we had a plant called nettles... They are EVERYWHERE and hurt like a b**** if you touch it ever so slightly... It looks like this:

Ah, yes, nature is always so lovely. I've heard of nettles but I've never heard of poison sumac, we have poison oak and poison ivy down here though.

Yeah same... Nettles just sting you for like 5min if you touch them... Poison oak will ruin your month

Poison sumac looks like a big hairy vine that grows on trees. If you don't know better and you touch it, same as poison ivy and poison oak, it definitely ruins your month ?
