Alright, I need all you experts out there to tell just what Sambatra is. When I purchased him, he was advertised as a red bar Ambanja. I posted some pics of him and was told he was a Sambava. Can ya'll clear this up for me? He is beautiful either way, but I would just like to know!

edit: Sorry, I dont know what it is. I think its a bit to hard these days to really drill down what it is. Im sure you will get some fancy anwsers, but i am unable to help

Strictly for humor sake...looks like a 75% ambanja, 19%, sambava 3% nosy, 3% diego that ALMOST mated with a ambilobe

I went through this with my cham. Mine is a red bar ambilobe and people on the forum told me since he has a "y" shape in the middle body bar that would make the difference between a sambava and a red bar ambilobe. They looked the same to me except for the body bar.

I thought the tell-tale sign of the Sambava had a "U" bar. I don't see it, it actually looks like a very nice red-bar ambilobe to me. Look at screameleons pictures of their sambava.

Also wizardslizards.com and the kammer's sambava "El-lobo" has the tell-tale "U" bar.

I'm wondering why everyone is so sure it's sambava. I don't see any defining features suggesting this besides that it's green with red bars. It doesn't have the typical well define "U" shape, although the bars at the front portion of his body dont run top to bottom.

Post up a full body picture of the side of him that is showing in the last of the set of pictures.

What colors does he fire up?

Right. I thought the same. His sleeping colors would be easy to get, and would almost certainly point the way. Post a sleep photo. If he's orange and red or yellow and red, and kind of bright, it's a Sambava. If he's multicolored, it's a something else. Sambava sleeping colors are very predictable.
