I am building a large screen in cage and need to know what the best screen to use. I would like to use black if I can and it seems that aluminium is a good option. Does anyone know where I can get black screen? Home Depot??
Thanks

It really depends on what type of chameleon and whether you plan to free range feeders. For my Jacksons cage I used a light aluminum screen. For my panther I used the pet screen for all sides except the top and door, the lighter screen was used for the top and door to allow more light and visibility.

If your getting a bigger sized chameleon you would want a more sturdy screen like the pet screen but like a Jackson's or smaller chameleon you could get away with a lighter screen.

When you folks say "pet screen" what exactly are you referring to?

It's not aluminum or fiberglass. It's more of a sturdy, tight weave with larger spacing than aluminum. It'll help keep claws from getting stuck and prevent damage to lil toes...

Oh, thanks! And also, Google is my friend. I didn't realize it was a brand name. Is this it?:

"Phifer "Pet Screen" meets the needs of pet owners by resisting tears and punctures caused by dogs and cats. Made of strong vinyl-coated polyester, "Pet Screen" is seven times stronger than traditional insect screening and offers excellent outward visibility. Ideal for those areas prime for potential damage and heavy wear in high traffic areas, this screen can be used on screened window screens, screen doors and screened porches"

i am looking at building one also,
my question is what do people use for the doors?
i feel kinda dum but have not really come up with a viable plan...

The pet screen is great. It is a vinyl coated screen that is pretty tough, but you can not see very well through it. I also used aluminum for the top screen in Zaphod's enclosure. I used acrylic for the front door and the back panel so visibility is not a problem. When I changed to an Arcadia T5 HO fixture I was able to see much better through the sides as well. Here's a link to what it looks like https://www.chameleonforums.com/its-done-94262/. As for fiberglass, crickets will eat through it fast!
