What is this?

I got a 2 year old veiled chameleon from a family that needed to get rid of it on craigslist yesterday. He has a pink thing sticking out of his body. Can anyone tell me what this is?

It appears to be a prolapse. Do you know how long it has been out? They will sometimes go back in on their own but often require vet attention. You must try to keep it from drying out though!

I don't know how long it has been out. How would I keep it from drying out? Would misting it help?

Try soaking his bum in warm water and salt it may possibly go back on its own. If not a vet is nessisary. Hope it helps.

You need to take him to the vet before it comes out further or gets infected then it’s so hard to get to stay back in. Has he pooped if so that is a little better if not I would try to get him in ASAP because he will suffer badly but he still needs to go soon also get a fecil test done to see if it was parasit related keep it moist do not use anything if it’s not completely sterilized it will get infected 100% if you start messing with it sugar is if it’s bad and you know what you are doin to try to do the procedure yourself and if you already have what you need as far as what to use and medicines keep it moist until you can get him to the vet spray every 20 mins or so it’s for the best use bottled water and try to keep it clean lightly spray off any poop get him to the vet within a day or two at the most if it stays out but try for tomorrow even if it goes back in something caused it there’s a number of things that could make that happen make sure you see a exotic
