What kind of egg is this??

Hey everyone, well my friend has a HUGE backyard and found some eggs and she decided to take 4 out of the 20 that were there and gave me one to see if i can see what species it belongs to. Can you help me out? Lizard or snake?

You really can't tell what is in an egg until it hatches. You should have left it alone since you have no idea what it is or how to incubate it....

Why did you feel the need to remove it in the first place? :\

And oats for an incubation medium? I don't see the sense...

EDIT: I just realized your friend gave you the eggs but still, same idea/concept.

She gave me the egg with the oatmeal in a cup. She may not know much about reptiles and all but I added some sand and vermiculite.

But you still took it not knowing what it was. Why not go put it back?

I cant put it back now. She lives far from me and if it hatches i will just see what it is and release it.

I think it may be some kind of anole egg or a curly tailed lizard egg

what is in there back yard, where was it layed in the back yard?
did you take the oats out as wet oats will get moldy.

To be honest a lot of things live in their backyard. Anoles, curly tailed lizard, and probably other lizard i don't know of. I just found out the eggs were laid next to my friends gym set she has in her backyard in the patio area. I have a feeling its an anole.

I did take the oats out. The egg is now in vermiculite

No idea what it is Stefan, but since you dont know, you cant know when to expect it, so check on it daily. Incubation temp is questionable too since you dont know the species.
A safe temp might be arund 28c/82f, which seems suitable for a broad range of species.

Out of curiosity, is the shell soft and rubbery or brittle? some gecko species have brittle eggs.

It's an empty egg. I saw a crack in the back of the egg and it just broke in my hand and there was nothing inside it.
