What species would work here?

I'd like to fill an empty cage and need help finding the right inhabitant to get for it! I have an 18x18x18 glass vivarium fully planted which keeps humidity around 70%. With just UVB light temps around in the low 70s most of the time but I can make a basking spot. I really want something that can also eat crickets so I can just stick to one main feeder type. Thinking some kind of frog/toad maybe? I'd like something that will utilize the branches and plants rather than just the ground layer since it's so well established. Thoughts? Ideas?? :)

I'm madly in love with my gray tree frog. He's a doll and watching him hunt crickets is hilarious. Plus he sings us "good morning" every night around 6 or 7. Just a little thing that makes me happy :)

Pygmy chameleons :>.

I just hatched my first clutch and boy are these guys entertaining!

Pygmies also utilize all the space they can get. They will head toward the ground and look for food. And they will also climb any branches or twigs you place up high.

They can live in a group or trio.

They also love crickets, and are prone to eating out of a feeder cup.

This viv used to have pygmies. :) I used to breed them also. I love pygs but am looking for something different this time. I have another viv for a pair of pygs if I run across some anyway.

Oh those are cute! This viv is in the master bath so do they sing just in the evening or does extend into the night? I need my sleep.

Mine only sings just a bit in the early evening. You could always end up with one more vocal, of course :). Females call much less than the males.

Low 70's
Lives well in a naturalistic vivarium.

You just described my favorite non-chameleon reptile! Uroplatus phantasticus!

Oooooo a leaf tailed gecko is a cool idea! I wish I had a viv in my bathroom...

Although the spare bathroom is currently the "bugatorium" where I keep all the feeders.

I know we're all animal-crazy on here, but I've just got to ask - why is the viv in a bathroom??? :D

Lol because it fit perfectly on the counter in there! It's one of those long counters so it was wasted space in a room with a big window so it gets good light and the viv fits great. Plus being naturalistic I think it's pretty to look at. While I'm getting ready in the morning I can watch the inhabitants. And for species that like humidity the showers offer a nice spike there. In honesty, it was a temporary solution when we moved at first but I actually liked it there so I left it. :)

Not that I would stoop so low as to post a bunch more pictures of the beauty that is my vote, but....well, yeah I would :) That first one was the father.

That is a perfect line of reasoning! I love the idea and can't wait to see what you eventually decide on (those geckos are adorable though!). And you win the "You know you're reptile crazy when..." competitions, hands down! :D

I know this thread is old, I just wanted to acknowledge that I have a similar "problem". I want another critter but I'm not sure what yet. Seeing as most of what I like requires higher levels of humidity I'm trying to find something that will work well on my cham's mistking schedule so I can just add another nozzle for the new critter. And of course sharing food with the cham makes sense too. Logical thinking, right? :)
