What the heck just happened!!! PICS

OK, here is the deal. I purchased a beautiful Hibiscus plant yesterday and couldn't wait to the my 6 month old male Ambilobe and my 2.5 month old male ? Ambanja out to sun a little.

They were having a good time being misted and sitting in the sun. The little guy was sunning on a dead ficus I had so I could keep them separated.

He caught a glimpse of Dr. Gonzo pictured below... The little Ambanja

He bolted down the tree fixed on the little guy and and started to bob his head.. A transformation occurred that I have never seen before. And all I can say is WOW.

Questions started popping into my head. Is Dr. Gonzo a female ? I included a pic so I could get some opinions. Could he of been mistaken for a female? Or is head bobbing an aggressive sign?


Here is what Raul looked like when we started. Pretty normal for him coloring up.

I can definately see a HemeBulge on the little guy... Looks like a male to me... Maybe the size and lack of color confused Raul. But yeah, That awesome tranformation, and the bad ass patterns around the eyes means he sees something that tickled his fancy... That is the head bob pattern.

That little Ambanja does resemble a female, so I can see why he'd be bobbing his head at it. That was definitely a mating ritual, not aggression.

Dr. Gonzo is very light for a male thats why I had my doubts. I could see his bulge so I was very confused. Kammers sexed him. I picked him because he was lighter than the other guys and the stripes on his eyes were strong.

it seems Raul Duke is a Little confused as well,.. Lucky he didn't get to make his move

Is it normal for 6 months for them to react that way? I though he would just not pay any attention to the little guy.

That was soooo freaking awesome to see. My heart started to race when I saw him color up like that.

Boy! I can't remember who said it or where I read it but it was on this forum somewhere ...and It makes me laugh every time.... He is "Hung Like Furcifer!" LOL. Compare the bulge of panther to one of a Veiled and you will understand where that saying comes from. I made that joke to some "non-cham" people...and then laughed with myself, while everyone looked at me wondering what the hell I meant. Proportionally F. Pardalis are VERY blessed I guess you could say. Awesome little guy Ryan...can't wait to see him as a lady chasin' stud!
