I am getting my baby ambanja tomorrow so just wanted to make sure I do everything right before I get her...how old do panthers have to be inorder to start eating wax worms, hornworms, moths, ect...I know they are eating crickets and fruitflies right now but how much longer should I wait to start varying the food?

When the animal is big enough to manage the feeder.
6 month? 9 months?
Can't really say ... you'll know when you get there.

Hello, well I have a panther as well. I got him at 3 months and kept him on house flies (captive raised... dont try to catch them yourself in the wild!!) friut flies and small smal crickets. I have kept him on the crickets regularly... he is now 5 months. They say that crickets are going to be the basis of its diet. I tried to give him wax worms for the first time at about 4 1/2 months. He did great with them... But they say to only feed them about 1-2 a day... they are not that high in nutritional value. I stopped giving the fruit flies after about 3 1/2 months when I didnt think it was going to make a difference. I still havent given him meal worms. I have been told that their exo-skeleton is to hard on the cham digestive sytem so I would stay away from them for awhile... as far as other insects... I wouldnt give anything that you have caught yourself and nothing bigger than the width of his head!! This site is a great reference for you if you need help!! Good luck to you and your new addition!!!
