When to give supplements?

Okay so I'm planning on getting a chameleon soon and I thought I knew enough to like get one really soon but then I realized that I have no idea when or even how to give supplements to a chameleon. One thing that I've seen people do is just before feeding they dust whatever insect they're feeding to it with calcium or other supplements. Is this a good way to give supplements? Also, how often do I give them supplements? Is it sort of a guess and check sort of thing? I'm planning on getting a male veiled chameleon that is less than 6 months old. What would be ideal? Thanks for your help!

You must gutload your feeder insects with fresh greens and vegetables to insure they are providing your cham the nutrients it needs. Also, there are many different approaches to supplements. One popular one is to dust with calcium without D3 at every feeding, dust with calcium with D3 twice a month, and a multivitamin twice a month. Personally, I purchased Sticky tongue farms outdoor calcium without D3, Reptivite without D3, and Repticalcium with D3. These can all be found online on multiple websites
