what did you guys did when your cham past away. i know you guys wouldnt just throw them away in the trash. so tell me your story, what did you guys do with it?

my chameleon has not died. however, with various other reptiles when i was younger, when they died they were placed in shoe boxes and buried

Has your chameleon died? If so, I am sorry. I too have never had a chameleon die, but have had turtles, a tortoise, rabbit etc. I would put them in a bag or box and then bury them in a special place in my backyard. Maybe put a plant over the top so I always remember exactly where they are buried.

I had mine cremated - my vet has a guy that has a private business and will return the ashes to the vet in a nice box. Or you can do a communal burial for the ashes - but I had mine returned. I don't own any property, so I didn't have a place for burial.

I think it would be very upsetting to have your dead pet dug up my a wild animal, or a cat for that matter. It's surprising how hard it hits you when you lose one of these amazing creatures. I certainly didn't expect it to hit me so hard when I lost my first female. She died in my lap and it was the saddest day I have endured for a long time.:(

When my dear Lily died I had her cremated. Her ashes are now kept in a little box on a shelf above where her viv used to be along with my favourite photo of her.

We had a little pet cemetery too (luckily no chameleons in it yet) but we would find a nice decent sized rock and paint the critter's name on it and put that over where we buried them to discourage wild things from wanting to dig in that spot. If you bury them deep then it's not as much of a problem. We had a whole family of raccoons that nested in one of our trees every year and we never had anything dug up and our cemetery was more than just a few. Lots of pets. :) I will do the same for my chams when that happens one day.

I wrapped Bluetooth in a nice piece of fabric and buried him in my garden. I painted a stone with his name and put it on the place where he rests.

Pet cemetary here too, but only for the little critters: chams, rats, etc. We wrap them in thin towels or paper towels and dig the hole fairly deep so raccoons and other critters don't dig them up. Dogs and cats get cremated and we have the ashes in urns. We're going to bury them at some point, but haven't yet.

When a chameleon dies, he or she gets wrapped in at paper towel and we write a little message on it like "Daigan, you will be missed xoxox " then bury in the back yard. Usually planting the plant that was in their cage on the grave as a marker.

Glad too see Im not as weird as my friends act like I am. I have my dogs ashes on the mantle also. No chams have passed away under my care for many yrs. But I always wrapped them up and they were buried in a nice flower garden beneath a bird bath and a bird house we had. Now I think I may do the cremation thing with them. As Im not going to be staying where I live now permanently.;)

I have buried almost all of my animals. The grass in my front yard isn't consistent, so I pick patches that are not near where I walk in my yard. I have only thrown two away, the last crested I had that passed, and my little quadricornis that passed. I was so upset, I didn't want to even deal with burying them, because I had big plans for them, and then they just die. It is weird how such a little animal has such a big place in your heart.

chop it up for fish bait, oh no wait thats what i would do for a tarantula, but for a cham then yes i would stuff it and mount it next to my collectable G.I Joe and World of Warcraft figurine's(both of which are still in thier original boxes).

That's really sweet. I like the idea of writing a message on the paper towel. If any of my critters die over the late fall/winter/early spring months, they have to be in the freezer til the ground can be dug up. It would be a nice rememberance to see what I wrote on the paper towel months before. I'm going to do that.

I'm with you on the cremation. I loathe the thought of my critters losing their right to rest. I'm so sorry about your loss of Lily. I followed your postings/pics on her often. You clearly loved her very much and her photos show how happy she was. I was very sad for you when I read of her passing. I've lost 2 chams myself - the first loss broke my heart to pieces. I'm still not over it completely.

We had our 1st dog cremated, he moves everywhere with us now. We will probably bury him when we stop moving and settle down in our own home (6 yrs to go )
