Mulberry farms is completely sold out! :(

What is the deal? Is it because of the time of year? What are other reputable dealers with silkies in stock?

I had placed an order with mulberryfarms on the secound of this mounth and then recieved a email from Jeff on the seventh.

"Unfortunately, we have noticed an issue in the only active silkworm raising room regarding mold. In our efforts to always supply top quality feeders to our customers, we have decided not to use silkworms from that room. We have started a batch in another raising room, but will not have saleable worms for at least another week."

There you have it.

but not very many of them 50 counts only

True....but as I said I only use them as a back up and they are really high quality. Last time I used them I emailed them when they only advertised 50 and was able to order 100. Then again I only have 4 chams :)

I just picked up about 500 silk eggs from Coastal (they are local enough for me to drive to his house and just get them, woohoo no shipping :D ) So I'll have some in a couple weeks. Im thinking this is going to be the way to go for silks now. Its really hard to find consistant sourcing for them.

I also got eggs from coastal silkworms (250). So far, so good. They are 1 week old now, dozen or so died, but the majority are growing nicely. The kegos(?) are tough to handle, even with a number two brush. They really want to cling to the brush and it was hard getting them off gently, but I managed, just really time consuming moving the hatched silks to the keeper. Next time maybe I'll try putting the petri dish in the silk container, and hopefully that will make them crawl out and onto the chow. Also I found removing dried out food to be really tough. Even after using a fine grater, the silks just seem to cling to the dried out food and removing them is really tough. Hopefully through trial and error i'll get it down so i can order 1000 eggs cooled and hatch them off as needed, but right now my worm husbandry is absolutely abysmal. My only real reference was coastal silkworms and this thread: https://www.chameleonforums.com/silkworms-101-a-7906/index2.html.
