Where have all the silkworms gone?

There are no pet stores in my area that sell silkworms. Also the online stores where I order my crickets are all sold out of silkworms (they have been for a while) I would like to give my chams some more variety. Any other sites I can go to for silkies?

Just went to Mullbury farm site. All sold out. Thanks for the reply. I'll try that other site too. You just might get a new customer lol! Any other yummy bugs you would reccomend for my chams. Right now they just get dusted crickets, mealworms (as a treat) and once in a while a wax worm. Those are the only bugs I can get locally.

roaches

I would highly recommend roaches for your cham. I have two veileds and they LOVE roaches. I sell 5 different species of roaches too. Let me know what i can do for you. Send me a PM if you're interested.

Not many silkworms............

The bulk silkworm vendors seem to be on vacation for the holidays. I have also suspected that the silkworm virus has made the rounds again. I normally buy 500 large silkworms at a time and a smaller quantity of the mediums. I have not been able to do so for over a month. They have not been available and I am totally out. I'm going crazy because my chams love them. I've been growing up a bunch of baby/small silkworms but that takes for ever. I've given up on trying to grow them to the large size. I've been feeding them to my hatchlings instead.

i can testify to that.
my supplies of silkies from one of the company was infected by grasserie when it arrives.
I notify the company and they have been extremely kind and professional.
So, i opt for a replacement hornworm pod instead.

They say they have been getting few reports of that and will eradicate the
whole batch, disinfect the rearing rooms, and start fresh. They are ready to rear a new batch this week :(
It's too bad.. but, i heard that's the only way.

So, for now, it's horn worms time.

There will be a shortage of worms for the next few weeks until the new eggs are ready. While we're not sold out of worms just yet, we'll also be in a few weeks until the new eggs hatch. There're no virus issues going around, not with our stock anyhow. Eggs are in very short supply; with the holidays and shipping problems that come with it things should be back to normal in the next few weeks. The reason we do not have large worms is our worms are shipped to Canada before they get that size. How ever the mediums do ship on the larger side!

I got my last couple batches from coastal, no problems. The groups before that were from somewhere else and had the virus.
