where to buy organic plants

does anybody know where i can buy organically grown "safe plants"? I have been looking around town (i live outside Detroit,Michigan) and on the INTERNET but i can only find ficus b. @ kammerflage kreations . I would like to find an assortment cham friendly organically grown plants. I am new to the hobby and i want to start out with the best habitat that i can provide.

I have to admit, when I went out to buy plants, I didn't even think about going organic. Not really because I didn't consider the possibilities of buying non organic plants, but merely because most members stated that they purchased their plants from lowes or home depot.

Are there some specific concerns that you have about buying plants from these locations?

I am just concernd about fertilizers that arent organic might be ingested into the chams system....... maybe im being overly concerned . i dont know, i am just trying to be as natural as possible.

Just take your plant, wash it very well, and re-pot it in organic soil.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's a great question. I just have never seen it come up as a topic of concern before. There is nothing wrong with being concerned. I would like to know how some senior keepers feel about this.

if you wash with soapy water (i wash 5 times to be sure) and rinse well, your chameleon will be fine.

You'll have an extremely hard time to find a nursery that does not use some kind chemicals on their plants.
But, if you do find one, let me know if they are willing to ship their plants .

I talked to one of the moderators in orchid forum.
They say that most commercially available chemicals (not all) used in nursery will lose their potency in a month.

But, I have no idea if this is true. Take it with a grain of salt and do research first before you believe it.

i washed and repotted 2 ficus, 2 croton and 2 umbrella today, what a mission! the plants look great now tho and gives you peace of mind, even got the misses to help by puttin large pebels on top of the soil!
