Because blood draining the caudal body of reptiles passes through the kidneys or the liver before reaching the central circulation, the effect of a drug injected in that region will be less than if injected in the upper half of the chameleon.
This is because chameleons have a renal portal system and so the injections should be given in the top half of the chameleon...
