Which One?

Veiled's probably best for a 1st cham. They're really hardy (tolerate husbandry mistakes much better), and active.

Well, in all fairness I just started with the dilepis, what, 3 weeks ago? Mike sent me a trio that are still probably younger than the ones he's advertising now. Feed, mist three times a day, clean poop, put out in the sun when possible; not too different from a baby veiled. Temps would be about the same too.

Pro: Flapneck babies HAVE to be the cutest of all the species. Wait till you see how they hold their tails when they walk, too. :D

Con: They eat you out of house and home. :(

I was just looking flapnecks up earlier today. They seem to vary a lot in patterns and color, but generally they are far less colorful than other chameleons. That turned me off a bit, and I have a plain Jackson, so you'd think I wouldn't be one to speak. So veileds are more colorful, but flapnecks are cute as babies and are good if you are looking for something different. I think I would get a veiled as my first rather than the flapneck so that I have something to show off when people come over :D...and then maybe get a flapneck later down the line. I think only true cham addicts appreciate the less colorful ones for the most part. Also there's far more info for veiled out there than there is for flapnecks if you're just starting out. I'm just starting out too and I always felt pressured to get a veiled because they're so common. If your gut is telling you to go for something different, then go for it, but also know what your getting into. If you want something that will grow up to be colorful, then the flapnecks may not be for you.

i will go with veiled as far as color and attitude goes.
:D i like it feisty!
Flap neck is cute though.
