white stuff in my cham's nose

Why is that everytime i dust my cricket with any of my repcal, herptivite, or minerall, a white stuff came out of my cham's nose the next day? (i did not even put a lot of dust. all the crickets are very lightly covered)

How can it be that i am over supplementing?
The only time it's not doing that is when i completely stop dusting my crix.

Other than dusting and gutloading (plus the sunlight.. but not anymore, since it's getting too cold now. So i used my reptisun 5.0), that's pretty much the only calcium source that he gonna get.

I want to completely stop the dusting.. but i am not too confident in doing that.

Veild Chameleons along with other reptiles expel access salt through there nose… Ever seen a TV show where the Galapagos iguanas spit the salt out of there nose? *disclaimer* However I am not a vet and could be wrong.

so you suspect the water?
hmmm. it could very well be..
I'll try using purified water bottle today and see if he still displaying the same symptoms. I am really wary of discontinuing my supplement.

Snorting Salt..............

Looks like you have a Veiled. And Veileds do snort salt as stated previously. And it's normal as stated previously. No need to change anything at all. As your boy matures and grows it becomes more noticeable. I don't think Panthers do this. At least I haven't noticed it. Veileds have an actual gland in their nasal cavity that is responsible for this. I don't think Panthers have this, but I could be wrong. Common green iguanas have it too. I have two adult iguanas. Their cage is next to a window. I have to clean the window glass and the bottom of their cage every day. They actually snort a visible spray of liquid out. It dries into white salt crystals. They have a stainless steel wire cage so the spray shoots out of the cage and hits the window. So all is well with your little boy :)

I to had this problem with my little guy(2 1/2 month old) I use to supplement calcium m/w/fr, calcium w/d-3 tue/thurs, and herpivite on sunday. I changed to calcium w/d-3 sunday, and herpivite tue/thurs and his nose is better. I usually use britta water for my dripper and bottled water for misting.

Water has nothing to do with it ...it's the supplements.
It just goes to show you how much is too much in this dept.
It's much more common with younger smaller chams that are eating a lot of crickets and every one is dusted.
I solved it by dusting only a third of them.
Also, it's not just salt. They expel various excess minerals from their nostrils.
Older ones eat less and have more body mass to absorb the minerals so you don't see it as much, if at all, with them.

ok.. i guess i'll try to just dust a third of the crickets.
how bout silkworms ? Do i dust them too?

Don't forget how little they are.
Look at the size of a vitamin you would take compared to your weight and size. They just need a tiny bit!
