They are the best. Collecting from areas where there is for sure no chemicals of any sort being sprayed are the best. I run a moth trap at night on clear nigihts and collect grasshoppers all summer when I can.. I also like to feed them as soon as I can so they still have the natural gutload in them too.
LOL I dunno about monthly visits. I think there is a much higher chance of getting a parasitic infection from buying feeders from say a pet store. Most of the time they have employees who have no idea about parasites. For exampele one will go and will clean out some bearded dragons cage then not wash their hands really well and dole out your crickets. The cricket is injested by your reptiles, voila you have coccidia.
As far as I know I've never had a parasitic infection due to wild bugs. I do my own fecal floats so I guess that eases my mind.
I dont know how often you guys take your chams to
the vet to get tested but it is still recommended to do it periodically to
make sure they accumilate too many parasites from wild
or petstore bought feeders
