Will crickets bite my jackson chameleon?

Aloha to everyone,

I just got my first jackson chameleon a bit ago. I tried the milk jug feeding idea and it was great, but a few of the medium sized crickets got out into the enclosure. At first I thought it was ok because he would get to "hunt them" but then I saw some information that said this was bad because the crickets would bite/naw on him at night. Is this true?

Thank you to anyone who takes time to answer my question ;)
Mahalo..

Welcome to the forum :D

Yes they will, especially if they havent eaten they will attack your chameleon.
Theres no problem with free ranging crickets and letting your cham hunt them.
Just make sure after you buy them you let them feed and get "gut loaded" first
so they wont be hungry when going into the cage and be less likely to attack your cham.

You can leave them in there all day but make sure to take them out at night :)

You can also put a slice of yellow squash or a piece of fruit in the bottom of the cage for the crickets to eat on as well. Just dont put anything that your cham can choke on if he eats it. Try and use something that would be soft incase he gets it in his mouth. I do this in my baby panther tub so the crickets will gravitate toward the food instead of biting the babies at night.
