Hello! I live Birmingham, AL where the weather is always unpredictable. I was wondering if you guys had any tips on keeping up temps and humidity during the really cold weather times. I have 60 watt bulbs and thought about going up to higher wattage. I heard heat cables and pads were a bad idea. What do you guys think? Anyway I preciate any feedback.

If your using screen cages then you can wrap the sides and back with a plastic curtain and it helps retain heat and moisture in the cage. It also is useful as a visual barrier if you have other chams in the same room. Im about too up my heat bulbs in another week or two. Im prob going to go to a 100 watt bulb since I have a window in my cham room. Im going to check temps and see if I can make do with just a 75 watt but I dont think its going to be warm enuff.

I have put a black towel on two sides of the cage other and I will up my bulbs too. Thanks and I really appreciate your feedback!

A space heater works well, but you will need to compensate humidity with either a humidifier or more sprayings. You can use a portable oil filled radiator and it wont kill the humidity levels, plus you can place a container of water on top of it to allow for added humidity in the form of evaporation.

How low does everyone's humidity in your cham's enclosures go during the winter months? Just wondering.....

I use a 250 watt heater emitter about 12" above my all screen enclosure with a repti fogger running 24 hrs.. If I see the humidity going above 70 consistantly I turn it off.. As I'm new to chams I also track the weather to see how my home is affected by the outside temps and humidity..
