Worrying a bit about my Schefflera....

Hey guys, hope everyone is doing well.

A bit ago I bought an Schefflera from Lowes and wanted to put it in my chameleons enclosure, but I just read that most of them are poisonous.... The thing was on sale so I just had to get it. Maybe it isn't poisonous? Anyone have any experience with the Schefflera at Lowes? I unfortunately don't have a camera available so I can't take any pictures of the plant itself, but it looks a hell of a lot like this one:

If it looks like the one in the picture, then you are in the clear. I think that is the most common kind of schefflera, which would likely be sold at a lowes. I believe the name is schefflera arboricola.

a lot of them look very similar, so it would be best to find out if it is the safe kind. Arboricola is the one that you'd be looking for.

I have two schefflera, one is short and one is a tall tree. Neither of them flower and they are both green and the leaves look like the one in your pic. Are those safe?

Your plant is safe. It is a Schefflera arboricola

If you post pictures, or if it looks like the one TRohr posted your safe. Schefflera arboricola's can get big, in fact I have seen some that were about 4 feet across. The arboricola's are more of a bush, while the long-leaved ones(the poisonous one) get more vertical.

I just got my schefflera arboricola today for my females encloser and a ficus benjamina for my males encloser. cant wait to put them in. Just cleaned them but still have to re-pot them. Btw is that really necessary, if so I will get to it. Any suggestions on pot sizes, material (plastic, ceramic or whatever)?
