Would like opinions ASAP on cohabitation of pupating hornworms with snails

While I have time off for the holidays I'd like to relocate my snails (a dozen helix aspera) into the enclosure that the hornworms are metamorphosizing in. They have been dug under for at least 10 days.
My only real concern is that the snails seem about ready to start laying, and I'm wondering if they would disturb the hornworms if they dug down a little to cover their eggs. There is only about 2.5" of coir in there, but I could put some more on top.

So...
1. Anyone have definite knowledge of this situation from experience? If not, opinions are appreciated too.
2. Same on adding a little coir AFTER they have dug down- anyone know if THEY NEED THOSE HOLES TOTALLY OPEN THAT THEY CRAWLED INTO? Or, can they be loosely covered with more coir after they have burrowed in?

THANK YOU!!!!
